About Me
Hey There!
I’m Jessica King
From orchestrating the rhythm of busy restaurants since I was 15 to living in a truck camper in the Colorado forests, my journey has been anything but ordinary. After graduating from Red Rocks Community College in December of 2022, I moved to Chicago to break free from my small-town roots and immerse myself in new opportunities. After a gap year, I found UX design and shortly after, the opportunity to chase the UX degree at DePaul University. With a background in Biology and English, and certificates in photography, small business management, yoga teaching, and volleyball coaching, I’ve built a diverse skill set reflecting my curiosity and adaptability.
UX brings together the parts of design I enjoy most: investigating a problem, understanding how people work, and making complicated information easier to use. My projects have involved stakeholder collaboration, usability research, cross-cultural observation, documentary photography, and long-form writing. Each has taught me to question assumptions and connect evidence to decisions. I’m especially interested in growing toward UX research, systems design, and UX strategy for tools people rely on in their daily work. When I’m away from a project, you’ll find me exploring Chicago, paddleboarding, playing volleyball, or spending time with my cat, Simba.
